Hello, Hookah Enthusiasts!
Before we delve into the awesome reviews the blog team has coming your way, introductions are in order, so here’s a little about me.
I’m Hannah Abbott, and I might as well be a hobbit. I mean, at 5’2” I’m pretty much short enough. A native Houston Texan, I have lived most of my short 21 years in the official hometown of Superman- Metropolis, Illinois. Contradictory to its name, Metropolis is actually a very small town and most of its residents cross the river into Paducah, Kentucky for groceries, work, and entertainment.
I am married to my high-school-sweetheart-ish-person Jacob, and have a fur baby, a little corgi mix named Carlos. Right out of high school, I joined the Navy as a CTR (Cryptologic Technician-Receiving/Collection) with a Top Secret Security Clearance in the works at that time. Unfortunately, my time in the service was cut very short by an onset of unexplained migraines. I had to pursue a different dream, and went on to attend John A. Logan Community College in pursuit of a career as a Dental Assistant. I now work as a DANB (Dental Assisting National Board) Certified Dental Assistant at Paducah Dental Care in Paducah, Kentucky.
I participated in many activities in my younger years, including softball, basketball, cheerleading, tennis, soccer, dance, gymnastics, jiu-jitsu, FFA, HOSA, WYSE team, student council, yearbook, and chess club… yes, chess club.
Through my childhood, I was deeply involved in music. I started with violin, and later discovered that my true musical talent lied in piano. I have also recently picked up an interest in electric guitar and would really like to learn to play the ukulele. I have played classical piano for 14 years, with my best pieces thus far being Norwegian Concerto and Flight of the Bumblebee. I decided to share my musical ability in my early teen years. On a whim and purely for fun to build my self-esteem after finally finishing years of intensive orthodontic treatment (which included headgear, I’m laughing with you), I entered the local pageant… Miss Metropolis Outstanding Teen, sponsored by the Miss America Organization. My very first pageant, and much to my surprise, I won. I went on to compete at Miss Illinois Outstanding Teen, where I placed 4th runner up out of the entire state. My platform was titled Paint the Rhythm- a program for youth in my area that got students actively involved in fine arts and educated them on the intellectual benefits that art and music have to offer. I eventually turned the program into a scholarship. Paint the Rhythm provided over $1,500 in private music instruction and music supplies to its recipients in the 3 years it was active.
I enjoy many varieties of music, especially in the rock and metal genres. In my free time, I enjoy doing yoga, cooking, playing video games, camping, kayaking, roadtripping, attending concerts, reading, and of course smoking hookah.
My favorite colors (since I can’t pick one over the other, but I don’t always like them together) are purple and Tiffany blue. Yeah, I went there with the whole specific color name thing. My favorite movies are first and foremost all of the Harry Potter movies, then anything with Adam Sandler, Tom Hanks, or Scarlett Johansson. I even credit her with the inspiration for my tragus piercings, and may even name my kid Scarlett (and her nickname would be Lettie like the Lettie in Fast and Furious) if I ever have a daughter… but honestly, I’d rather end up with a boy before a girl. My favorite bands are Northlane, Born of Osiris, Beartooth, A Lot Like Birds, and Sianvar among many others. I’ll get into my favorites with hookah in my next entry. My favorite sport to watch is baseball, and with that, my favorite teams are the Saint Louis Cardinals and the Houston Astros. I like pina coladas and getting caught in the rain. Just kidding… I like Mexican food. Or any food, really. Ice cream is my weakness. Oh and I’m a tea connoisseur. Like I collect teapots, teacups, and weird tea.
I’m a car enthusiast, and although I haven’t owned anything quite too exciting yet (unless you can count mostly-my-husband’s-but-my-name-is-also-on-the-title boosted Subaru WRX hatch), I hope to be the proud owner of a turbo Civic Si sometime in the near future, and maybe one day I’ll even own my dream car… a Mitsubishi Evo. If given the garage and car jacks to do so, I prefer to change my own oil, rotate my own tires, change my own spark plugs, and whatever else needs to be done to my car on my own so that I know it’s done right. In 2015, I had a quarter-life crisis and bought a red Kawasaki Ninja 250 sportbike. After a small wreck and with colder weather setting in, I really didn’t ride enough to keep it around and ended up selling it. But would I own a motorcycle again given better circumstances in the future? Most definitely.
I recently kicked off my YouTube channel, The Hookah Habbott, where I do video reviews of brands and flavors I love. I’m sure I’ll be doing product reviews soon as well, especially with the new Mason Shishaware Bowls releasing their Onyx bowl in just a matter of days… who ISN’T excited about that?! There is currently a giveaway going on for subscribing to my channel. At the mark of 100 subscribers, the giveaway will close and winning prizes will be sent out on March 4th.
So there’s a lot of random information about me. But that’s just the tip of the iceberg. You’ll probably learn more about me with my upcoming entries. Stay tuned and happy smoking!
